This past Sunday, Nelson continued our teaching series "Revealed" as we discussed “Where God Calls Home.” In Exodus 25 God said: “… bring Me an offering. From everyone who gives it willingly with his heart…  ... and let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them.”

From the foundation of the earth until we go to heaven (Rev 21:3-4), God’s desire is to have a relationship with us. The place that He called home (His dwelling place) on earth in the Old Testament was the Tabernacle. And for that reason we reviewed “The Tabernacle” and its meaning to for us today. Since we now live under the New Covenant of Christ through His perfect sacrifice, God’s dwelling place is now our hearts (John 14:15-17).

We also reviewed in detail how God wants to have this relationship with us, but He wants it to be voluntary. In the same way He requested the offerings used to build the tabernacle to be voluntary, today when Jesus comes to us, “He knocks at the door,” and, if you voluntary open the door, He will come in and fellowship with you, (Rev 3:20).

Music from Sunday was "Open Skies: (David Crowder), "Be Praised" (Michael Gungor), "You are Here" (Steve Deal), and "He Lives in Me" (Chris O'Brien).

Last week, we continued our teaching series "Revealed." This series examines the places, people, and rituals that foreshadowed the coming of Jesus, the Messiah. Doug Stetson (deacon/teacher) examined the role and purpose of the Ark of the Covenant in the Old Testament. He reminded us that the Ark not only was the place where God's presence rested, it also contained elements that demonstrated God's provision (manna), God's power and authority (Aaron's staff) and God's will and command (tablets of Law).

Doug then pointed us to Jesus - that through him, God's presence dwells with us, God's provision is made available to us, his power and authority reside with us, and his Law is written on our hearts.

We've been connecting this teaching series with our Lent devotional -- keep an eye on this blog to follow our daily Lent readings and prayers.

Music from Sunday was: "Eternal One" (Robbie Seay), "God Be Merciful to Me" (Jars of Clay), "Holy" (Chris O'Brien), and "He Lives in Me" (Chris O'Brien).

Things are finally warming up for NE weather! Many objects lost beneath the snow are now peaking out and that leads us directly to Sunday when we kicked-off our Lent series: Revealed. This teaching series is showing us how God has revealed Himself through historical events found in the Scriptures and, ultimately, teaches us how we can know Him more through Jesus Christ. Over the next few weeks we will examine the role of symbols, people and places in the Old Testament that were early representations of the relationship God desired to have with His people.

Here are some of the subjects that we plan to cover: The Ark of Covenant, Sacrifices, Redemption, Priests, Tabernacles, and wrapping it all up with Easter Sunday, The Resurrected Christ.

Now the introduction message was about: Do we have a need for the Resurrected Christ? And in that line of thought we reviewed sin. We saw God speaking to us on Genesis 4:7 - “If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it.”

And we ended with the perfect solution to our sin problem: Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Music from Sunday was "God Be Merciful to Me" (The Psalter), "I've Got a Song" (Hugh Wilson), ""Forgiven" (Hugh Wilson) and "The Wonderful Cross" (Hymn).

And that is the recap. Come and be part of this exciting Lent series and discover God through the ages and why He has revealed himself to us through Jesus Christ.
